Politics is too important a matter to be left to political parties and representative democracy. The Greens call for a rehabilitation of grassroots democracy in order to promote the participation of citizens at the different levels of decision-making.

While the economy has been globalized at a rapid rate, democracy is lagging far behind. The Greens want to stop the shift of power from democratically elected governments to the market forces. Globalization requires fairer rules. Global democracy should be promoted and strengthened.
